A Letter to StudentsDear 3rd graders,
Please read over this carefully with your families so you know exactly what to do and where to go for the concert! I am so excited and hope you are too, it's going to be a wonderful performance! 1. Arrive at the WHS field house 6:45pm on Wednesday 3/13 with the following: - yourself in your concert clothes (white top, black bottoms, black shoes, any color tie for boys) - instrument (labeled with your name) - folding music stand (labeled with your name, bass players will be given a stand to use) - music. Lighten your binder BEFORE you arrive by leaving your Essential Elements book at home. Your music stand will fall over if your binder is too heavy! Also be sure to have your concert songs in order in your binder before you arrive so they are ready: Ode to Joy, Celebrate this Day, then String Jam Twinkle should all be next to each other. 2. Find your classroom teacher's name on a big sign on the side of the gym. Unpack there quickly and push your closed case against the wall. 3. Go to the tuning station at the very BACK of the gym and get your instrument tuned by a high school student 4. Go to the 3rd grade section (right in front of the tuning station, where I will be standing!) and find your color on the seat: Violins = pink Violas = yellow Cello = green Bass = blue Choose your seat wisely, please DO NOT set up next to a friend you will want to talk to during the concert! Choose a seat where you can focus and do your best! 5. Set up your stand and music at the appropriate colored seat. DO NOT warm up, quietly sit in ready position and wait 6. All groups will practice, then we will try Celebrate this Day and String Jam Twinkle together before the concert starts 7. Concert starts at 7:30 with us playing Ode to Joy. Then we sit and listen quietly and respectfully for all other groups to perform. 8. To finish the concert, play Celebrate this Day, followed by String Jam Twinkle. Please be on your best behavior, be focused and paying attention the whole time so you can be ready for the next direction. I am so proud of your hard work, please show the audience and I your personal best at the performance! See you soon! Ms. Davis
