What to Practice: Concert WeekIt is hard to believe that the String Jamboree is next week! Here's what you should continue to work on preparing for next week's concert. The songs we will perform are 1. Ode to Joy 2. Celebrate this Day 3. Twinkle Variations Ode to Joy (just 3rd grade strings, play twice) Click the link above for an incredible video :) Here is how it will be performed: Piano intro 1st time - violin/viola play Harmony 1, cello/bass play Melody OR Harmony 2 Piano intro 2nd time - violin/viola play Melody OR Harmony 2, cello/bass play Harmony 1 ***practice each part separately, then perform it straight through the way you will play it in the concert (ex: if you play violin, play Harmony 1 followed directly by Melody/Harmony 2). Remember to use long smooth bows to get a clear sound! Celebrate this Day (finale with all students grades 3-12) You should have practiced this several lines at a time in small sections. It is time to play bigger sections/the whole thing straight through. How to practice this in steps (after you've practiced the whole thing several lines at a time): 1. Pluck whole thing through, saying notes as you play, counting rests 2. Bow whole thing through, counting rests when needed 3. Repeat step 1, but play with RECORDING HERE so you can here the high school parts (click the link to hear recording) 4. Repeat step 2, but add recording above. Go back through and repeat steps 1-4 until you are comfortable playing through the whole thing with the recording using your bow String Jam Twinkle (finale with all students grades 3-12) Use the "Twinkle Variations" sheet. It will be performed TWICE: Piano intro (played in Mississippi Hot dog rhythm) Mississippi Hot Dog variation Piano intro (played in half note rhythm as written) Slow Twinkle, as written using half notes (du-u's) SEE DOCUMENT BELOW FOR CONCERT INFO
