Hello 3rd Grade Strings! Here's what we did in class today:
Warmed up with long bows on D and A
Handed out a new version of "Ode to Joy" with harmonies and "String Jam Twinkle" (on the back!)
Reviewed Ode to Joy and Harmony 1 (just open D's and A's)
Listened to and learned the beginning of "Bossa Nova Triste". It uses only open strings and we will pluck the entire thing!
The assignment for next week is:
Practice "pepperoni pizza" (starting DOWN bow, pull) rhythms in your bow tube to warm up. Are you holding the bow correctly? Then, take the tube off and practice it on open D and A strings. Keep the bow in the middle lane to make a clear sound!
Ode to Joy - Get REALLY comfortable playing it with your bow! Also practice Harmony 1 (remember to hold the half notes for two beats each)
Practice String Jam Twinkle (with the bow)- the beginning is played in "pepperoni pizza" rhythm!
Practice "Bossa Nova Triste". Can you label the open strings notes? Don't label every single one -- only when they change. Try to play as much of it as you can!
BONUS: Can you play Harmony 2, the Challenge Harmony, without labeling it? Can you play ALL of Bossa Nova Triste with correct notes and rhythm??
Remember, our String Jamboree Concert is coming up really soon on February 13th! It will be so much fun!! Please practice as much as you can to prepare :)
