Here's what we're doing in Strings this week:
Welcome to Strings!!! LESSON ONEWe had a great first lesson and many students received their instrument!!! Here's what we did during class: 1. Received our instruments and accessories (check to make sure you got everything!) 2. Learned how to safely unpack our instruments. Students SHOULD NOT be using the bow yet unless they have been taught to do so already by a private teacher! 3. Learned the parts of the instrument 4. Learned how to play our first song - the ANT SONG!! Each week, on your lesson day, students need to bring the following items: 1. Strings binder with pencils inside 2. Essential Elements Book 3. Instrument 4. Shoulder rest/sponge for violins and violas, endpin holder for cello and bass Before next week's lesson, all students should complete the following: 1. Complete the Parts of the Instrument matching sheet, then color the instrument on the sheet any color you'd like! 2. Practice the ANT Song at home until you memorize the names of your strings! 3. Get a strings binder with pencils inside if you don't already have one! 4. Find a quiet place to practice in your house and assemble your music stand there! (Photo of what it should look like below). It should be at eye level when you are standing if you play violin, viola, or bass and eye level when you are sitting if you play cello! 5. Violin and viola players only: assemble your KUN shoulder rest if you purchased one!
